Id like to know that question also Jeff,,lol,,, Im definitely growing it next season cause I have to know what that seed will produce. I dont think there is another cross out there like it is there?
The pollinator grew my 1190 Bosworth 09 (1161 Rodonis x 1209 Kuhn) and the 1566 I grew was a deep shiny orange. The only reason I grew that 1566 was to cross it with the 1161 pumpkin, but every time I had a female ready to pollinate, then there was no males ready on the 1566 plant. So I ended up doing the 1566 x 1161 cross on a plant I was only planning to use as a pollinator, it grew to about 450 lbs est out about 18 ft on the main vine with no secondaries.(snake pattern)
I cant find the pics of that 450 lber (1566 Rodonis) pumpkin anywhere, and I know I sent it to a few growers out there. Im not totally sure on this, and just guessing,, but I think I might have sent a pic of the 450 pumpkin to Ray Waterman on P&P seeds.
I sent him the rest of what I had left this year of the 'RODONIS Cross' seeds. I just dont think he has them up on his web site yet.
I also did another Rodonis Genetic cross this year (2010) on a really late pollintion at the end of the season(Sept 2ND) and was lucky enough to get really mature seeds out of that pumpkin, I did a 1161 x self cross. It grew my 1011 Bosworth 10'(late pollintion also ,July 31st)
So if anyone out there cant find a 1161 Rodonis, or a 1610 Lieber 10' seed, well this Bosworth 10' (1161 x self) seed might be your next best thing.
I sent Ray all of what I had of both seeds this year if anyone is interested. Bosworth '09'(Rodonis cross 1566 x 1161) 2 Bosworth '10' (1161 x self)
if you keep checking pandpseeds.com they should be there soon I bet.

Brooks I'm kinda confused now, are you saying that you pollinated a pumpkin on Sept. 2 and got a 1011 out of it? Or more likely are you saying that the 1011 grew on the same plant that you set another pumpkin on that plant? If so that pretty much means that you had 2 pumpkins this year that could have been heavier, the 1011 and 977. They should've weighed way heavier. Maybe I am misunderstanding you about the 1011 but I know for sure the 977 would've been over 1000 without that second selfed pumpkin on the vine. No criticicm intended just wondering for the sake of conversation.

I never really gave that a thoughton the 977 Jim, but you could be right on that 977, it might have made 1000 lbs.
Reason why I kept that 2nd pumpkin on that 1161 is because everything kept aborting on me, I couldn't get most of what I grew this year pollinated before July 4th. So every female I seen on that 1161 plant I pollinated. The 1011 I grew I pollinated on July 31st, the other pumpkin on the same 1161 plant I pollinated on Sept 2nd. And it was only luck that I selfed it, well not really luck, it was my only choice of pollinators at the time,,lol The Orange 977 I grew off that 1385 I could see it was going to be a beautiful orange color and I could tell the growth was slowing way down to a crawl, I knew then that the 1385 wasnt going to grow into that 1500 lb huge ugly pumpkin that I was after. So when mid to late Sept hit I realized that I should try self pollinating a pumpkin on that 1385 for the chances that self seed will grow that exact same orange color. It just got to cold on the plant and at about day 38 to 40 it stopped growing on me. I still left the pumpkin hooked up on the vine though even though the plant was done for and I covered the pumpkin up for about 20 more days hoping there was just a little left in that plant to help mature the seeds. But as luck had it, every seed in that pumpkin wasnt mature enough, I needed about 10 more days or so and I think the seeds would have been good to go.
