Learned this one from Matt D. Time to tell the World what seed of yours you think is the best of your crosses and why. Don't be humble. It might just inspire someone to grow it.

Well, I guess it doesn't mean anything until it's proven, but I like the following cross a lot:
817 Leland 2010 - 1092 Martin (F) x 898 Knauss (M); 313 inches, + 26.3%
Is it all right to plug a couple more since I am having a hard time myself deciding which to plant?
885.5 Leland 2010 - 904 Stelts (F) x 705 Stelts (M); 341 inches, + 6.3% 617.5 Leland 2010 - 1725 Harp (F) x 705 Stelts (M); 276 inches, + 37.8%

my personal choice is to plant seeds from big pumpkins. pumpkins with what i like to think have the best genetic crosses.seeds that have either proven their worth or have unique genetic crosses. sometime you get lucky and first year seeds are one in the same.new yet great results that first year out. like christy and nicks 1725 for example. it did very well the first year out but, i believe this seed has not grown its biggest off spring yet.
this year i also like some of the new crosses from 2010 as well. guys like ken sweet, chris stevens, jeff zollener, ian patton, kevin marsh, eric presto, etc, etc, etc. their seeds i believe will have a lot to say about where the hobby goes these next few years.
then theres the good old stand by favorite growers like rodonis, jutras, werner, checkon, young, daletas, etc, to name a few. you cant over look any seed these growers produce.

I like our 1203 Shymanski. It is almost 400 pounds bigger than anything I have ever grown. It was among 15 other plants in the patch and didn't get the care it deserved. It's mother and father were both selfed seeds, 1200 Sunlin est. (1423 Wallace x self) x 1725 Harp (1385 x self). And it was 18% heavy. We are planting several and have high hopes.

Pap. YOU have to have a favorite WALLACE seed. Mine would be the 1350 Wallace if I could choose one. Our 1350 Wallace plant was on pace to break 1500#'s, but we lost the stump. Super plant. So what is your favorite Wallace seed Pap?

1080 Hunt (1678 Hunt x 898 Knauss)look at the genetic background on this one
1329.7 Hunt (901 Hunt x 1068 Wallace). huge potential here
We still think the 901 Hunt seed has the stuff to go even bigger if given the right conditions. Good luck all.

Hi Matt W, thanks for the recognition. I am sure I am not the first one to think of the concept but I think it allows some under the radar seeds to get a look.
I am going to plug my…
1,064.5 DeBacco ’10 (F: 1385 Jutras x 1421.5 Stelts) 15.3% heavy
This is probably the best cross I made this past year. As the 1385 went 15% heavy and the pollinator 1421.5 plant produced a 1,279.1lb pumpkin was still growing when it became damaged possibly due to a mouse as it did not appear to be a split or crack.
The 1421.5 that I grew had great color and good shape. The blossom end was sucked in but there were no structural problems with this area. Also, my 1421.5 went heavy to the chart by 4.75% and it was my most aggressively growing plant in the patch.
The 1385 was a consistently growing plant and pumpkin. There was a woodchuck that set-up residence by digging a hole right between the pumpkin and the stump. Growth was consistent and the overall shape was great both inside and out.
To my surprise it appears that no other grower crossed these two great seeds together. I encourage you to look at my growing season (Matt D.) to see how the pumpkin and the pollinator looked. 2010 Diary: http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryView.asp?season=2010&grower=25411&action=L
As a special bonus the seed count was good from this pumpkin, so if you are interested in giving it a try just let me know.

I like my 1418(1421.5 Stelts x 1236 Harp)(1223) and 1193(1041McKie x 1421.5 Stelts)(1418). I will be planting both of them this year.
If I could only plant one I think I'd go with the 1193. The 1193 went about 10% heavy and I know the 1193 would have been bigger if I hadn't made the mistake of breaking off the main at 3 feet out from the stump in June. The 1421.5 that was the pollinator was clearly the best plant in my patch last year and I like to see a strong pollinator.
I think my 1418 will do well too. The 1236 Harp that I used for the pollinator on this one was a great plant too. I had a late pollination on the 1236 and it ended up running out of time and weather and it produced a 1223. I really like the combination of the two strong pollinators on the two seeds from the 1662.5 Stelts and 1725 Harp on this cross.
