I would like to grow some nice ORANGE giants. . .I need some seeds for myself, and some neighborhood kids that I help. . .our skills and small partly shaded plots have been limiting us to 3-500lb range, but they are still prizes if they're round and orange. . .can I bubble anyone for some sweet orangeness? garyboer@dakotalink.com

Gary, you are welcome to as many of these as you want, the cross is 670 Daigle x self. The seed count was around 400 and you are welcome to what is left.

I have some that have proven to throw orange.

170 Rudolph 2008 I know it was a tiny pumpkin, but grew in a tiny patch too, just for the genetics.

It was an 879 Zoellner x self.

879 = 1317 Rose x 1290 Piorier

1317: http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Gallery/OriginalImg/1317Rose%20Pumpkin.jpg

1290: http://www.bigpumpkins.com/DiaryImages/FullSize/75998.jpg

The 879 was the cross of both of them, and I selfed it here is what the 170 itself looked like:

So far only one person I know of has tested them, and that was Martin Nagle, who selfed is again and grew an 418 EST off of it. Martin had 4 very bad storms last year, and lost 6 plants alltogether. The 170 plant had only 4 vines left, he actually thought his whole season was over, and even with a late set and he still got this fruit off of it:

The 170 had a good amount of seeds, and they are not exactly in high demand, but if you want any e-mail me at mikemn230@yahoo.com I believe they have better size potential give them out for free :)

You could also contact Martin as well, he selfed it again and his 418 seeds may be a good bet for orange too
