So here is my question?
If you planned a remake of the 1161, would it be advantagous to change it up a bit and use the 1306 Jutras instead of the 1450 Wallace?
I know it won't be a true remake but the 1306 proven itself quite nicely!!!!!

If the 1450 is available it would be the one to use IMO. I speculate that the 1450 is the special ingredient in the 1161.

with a fairly similar # of progeny, the 1306 has grown 4 over 1400, where the 1450 has only grown 1. 1306 also seems to grow pumpkins with more uniform shape and no DMG pumpkins that I know of. I would say change it up a bit, and go with the 1306... just might be the next killer cross.

Pete, sorta think that the 4 to 1 ratio, might have somethin to do w/ low seed count on the 1450 (very few seeds), so very few grown? Help me learn, here? Peace, Wayne

Id be more inclined to sib a couple of the best pumpkins form the 1161 than trying to remake. 1610 leiber,1810(1469) stevens,1725 sweet,1596 wallace crossed with each other.

well ,, let's see.. the 1306 x 1161 has been done... the 1161 x 1450 has been done,, and the 1306 x 1450 has been done,, i wonder if they will be any good.

1450 is kinda like the 898...a great pollenator.i tell you what!!...a (1231 pukos x 266vanhook) maybe better than the 1231 x 1450...cause the 266 is a 1450 sibb.

How about the 1507? It is one more generation of the 1068 which should be a step up from the 1306. The 1507 grew a great pumpkin for me and was a VERY strong pollinator.

I thinking about to let grow two AG's on the 1231, one cross 1231 x 1306 Jutras and the other cross 1231 x 941 Eckardt.
The 941 Eckardt is 1507 Jutras x 823 Perry.
The 823 Perry is 1306 Jutras x 1450 Wallace.

The 1161 does have at least one exact remake; the 970.5 Barenie but I think almost nobody has grown any pumpkins from it.
