I'm thinking about planting a 1314.8 lbs Beauchemin (05) and 1347 Wallace (06) and breeding them.. Think i'll get good results? Think is my 2nd yr and last year only gettin a 50 pounder.. My goal is to temp something 500+.. I got plenty of other seeds, just wondering if these guys would get me to the top?

Seed Soil Sun and luck, excellent seeds, the more work you put into it the better results you will have. Read diarys, questions in the search bar/box, find someone in Indiana near buy that can mentor you, maybe go to his patch to see how it is done. Indiana also has a club you can join, Indiana Pumpkin Growers Association. Go to the home page, under main menu, links, you can find Indianas club there.

I have grown them both with good results. If you get the soil and patch ready you should do better than 50lbs. If you look at my past diary entries you can get an idea how the seeds performed

A soil test is the most important thing you can do to get a big, if not giant, pumpkin. If you don't have the necessary nutrients in the proper amounts in the soil before you plant, you aren't going to get a BIG one.

Ryan, I'm in the same boat as you. I grew a couple 100+ pounders last year on a bet with some AG's from the hardware store. Extreme Pumpkin Stores has a great fert program on their website you can print off... don't forget the foliar feeding.
When you ask about results from the cross, do you mean for the seeds from next year? This years results will only be from the plant the female is on; male pollinator genes will be in the seed for next year.

Hey Ryan These guys are right. Just about any of today's seeds will grow you a 500#+ pumpkin, if the soil is in decent condition. Get your soil tested & then talk to someone who can help you understand the numbers & would be willing to help you ammend your soil. A good fertilizer program would be a great benefit to you in your quest for a 1000# pumpkin. Maybe your local club has a guy that would be willing to help you out with any questions or concerns that you have. Good Luck.
