Who's growing it and what are you crossing with it? What do you think about sibbing it???

Frank 4

Coventry R.I.

I.m growing it,, My other 2 seed,s are 1046 Stevens and the 1090 Northrup. 1090 = (904 Stelts x 1432 Northrup)
1046 = (772 poirier x Selfed)
I like either one to cross,,,

Im growing the 1610 I may cross it with the 1596 Wallace or the 991 Urena. Tough choice.

I have a 1421 Stelts or 1332.8 Wolf that I can cross with it, plus another local grower is also growing a 1610

Pap, that's the big gamble. If both 1610 go big it will be sweet!! Do you know if the 1610 went heavy?

Now that I know my 1610 has germinated and is moving right alone. I will be crossing it with the 1662.5 Stelts. Thanks for the advise Pap, 2 hr soak and high heat worked great for a broken seed tip! Looking for big and orange.

Waiting for my 1610 to germinate right now. When it does I am hoping to cross it with the 928 Box (1725 Harp selfed).

Mudcat I have the plant going now it was slower then my other seeds but while transplanting it into the hoophouses it had some great rooting in it. I believe that it's gonna be one of the most sought after seeds after this year. I must say that I was impressed with the roots. this year proves to be an exciting year for genetics.

I have two 1610 plants growing. I plan on sibbing them both ways, and maybe pollinating the 1348 Hester with the most aggressive 1610.

Mr. A. Normal, you sent me seeds twice, so who's the HERO!!! The second 1131 you sent was the first up & lots bigger than the incredible lookin 1610!!! That being said...I do agree, Great Minds DO think alike!!! LOL Peace, Wayne

I only have room for one plant. Hopefully, if all goes well it will be the 1610. What is the down side to selfing it?

Wally, sorta thinkin 2009 World Record (1725 Harp) was a selfed fruit, and the seeds from it have done fairly well also!!! Peace, Wayne
PS...not sure of the down side ?

It will be a toss up? I will either pollinate with the 1677.5 Hunt or the 1725 Harp? Alot will depend on good ole Mother Nature to see who will produce what flowers at what time?

I am going for pure ORANGE...

My 1610 is by far my best looking plant....and will get pollen from a 266 GRANDE cross which was my 1016 Daletas as the father....and the 1204 Kline (810 Dill) as the mother.....my 1016 Daletas went 895 and was gorgeous, I am hoping the 1610 is a duplicate....time will tell......

For those not concerned with color, I think the 1725 Harp X 1610 Lieber and reverse could be interesting.

Before this topic goes away, What is the down side to selfing it?
Can anyone add any insight to that Question?

Anyone intersted in keeping in touch during the season growing the 1610, let me know. Maybe we can exchange emails or set up a group email for everyone growing a 1610. Let me know what ya think. Here's my email dthajdas@roadrunner.com

Wayne,
1725 X 1610 and reverse could produce orange offspring. I just said that because the 1725 isn't known as an orange producer, that I know of. I think that cross could produce some nice orange pumpkins, and who knows...maybe a World Record?
