So i realize the AG are P. Maxima and developed from hubbard squash, but what reall is the difference between a green 1200+ lb squash like the vincent -McGill and a green pumpkin like the 1674 Marsh?

It depends on the picture, but the 1674 was quite squasy. It was judged a pumpkin but had enough squash charactoristic to it for me to plant it with the intent of crossing it with my 766.5* which happens to be a selfed 1236* Vincent-McGill.
But like Wilbur stated, they are both basically the same. Its like a golden retriever and a poodle. They are both dogs. Crossed, you get a goldendoodle. I hope my goldendoodle is a green one.

Right, Just color. One year the seeds I got from Dill produced a giant green one. Something different for folks around here to see.
