I would like to grow Orange in 2012. Any suggestions as to potential crosses from 2011 or earlier that I could help prove.
I will have 2 plants, so I would like to make a cross and share the seeds with the people/person who I get the seeds from.

I have a small 1059 V-M x 1421 Stelts that you might be interested in. It's orange x big, the 1421 was a decent looking pumpkin too.

here's a few pics of my 922 Mohr(1468 Stevens x 1725 Harp). great color and genes from the previous two world records (1810, 1725). I think its got great potential for big and orange.

1610 lieber 2010 is a great one to consider as well. probably be a few in the auctions this winter. its got 1161 Rodonis genetics, and many offspring have been big, round, and orange.

My son's 866.5 McWilliams 10 was a great orange birdbath, 21% heavy. Picture of it at: http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=169000 We grew one of the seeds this year, it didn't get great size due to late polination and excessive heat but it had even better color: http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=146836

Glenn, shoot me an email if you want to swap. I'd say they both have really good big-n-orange potential.

My fruit this year is 1544 revier by 1610. The 1544 is a nice orange color and the 1610 it was crossed with looked like it was going to produce big and beautiful. My friend lost his 1610 fruit day 18, rotted, he had no back ups at that time. My fruit is yet to be weighed, but it has produced my biggest pumpkin in 10 years growing in san diego. Hope she can weigh heavy, but we'll see. Jim

Dasnowskier, Kevin's 1059 x 1421 would be on my short list. Here is another to consider, you won't see it promoted anywhere but IMHO it stands for big and orange. 830 Kenneally 2011- 1421 Stelts x 1610 Lieber. Lots of big orange potential and very available.

i have a 932 holub(1059 v/m x 1421 stelts) x 513.5 vincent(1059 v/m x 1161 rodonis).the pumpkin was small , only about 75 pounds but very pretty color and shape. hard to argue with those genetics.only reason fruit was not bigger was that the soil was very poor it was grown in.if interested e-mail me at zepfan1967@live.com

I crossed the 1610 Lieber with the genetics from Todd Klines 1204 - 1016 Daletas (266 Grande) .....both sides
Voles got to the stump on the Lieber, stopped growing at 500 lbs but the walls were quick thick. Both where very shiny ORANGE, that 1016 look.
Also my 1810 was crossed with the 1450 Wallace, Both had the orange side of what crossed into the 1161 and apparent in the 1610. Check out the diary...Seeds for those who wish to try for next year.
