scott, not sure how much helpmy info will be , because i had very poor soil and very intense heat last year as well as being a first year grower.my 1131 was kinda acorned shaped, beautiful dark orange, but topped out here at around 330 pounds.there are pics in my diary of the fruit.the plant was a little small, only about 350 sq.ft.
i do think theres a big one or two in the 1131 though.and its gotta be a cool seed coming from norm.hope that helps .

Contact John Young(VTJohn). He grew an 1103(1059 Vincent-McGill x 1131 Gansert) in 2011. Beautiful orange.

Scott my 1131 was my best plant but the pumpkin only weighed in at 859.. It had good shape and was shiny orange but didn't make the magic 1000 I was hoping for.. I am going to grow the 859 in a flag pattern this year just out of curiosity. It is the reverse cross of John Young's 1103..

I lost my 1131 early on due to having it in too wet of a spot. The plant started out extremely aggressive and healthy and put out a beautiful orange fruit. Too much rain and poor drainage did it in. I'd definitely grow it again.

I grew the 1131 and had no issues although it was two out of 4 pumpkins I had that split. It was a terribly wet summer here. I either grew em or blew em. It made it to the end with a stem split but it slowed its growth down markedly. It was a nice orange pumpkin with rough skin.

I grew the 1131 last season as my top plant with high hopes of hitting the 1k mark. I pollenated it x self. I also fell short with the weight as mine was 544 lbs. It had a large dill ring and beautifull orange. I got a nasty blight in Aug that stunted the growth of all my pumpkins. It seems this seed has a hard time getting around that 1000 mark although I do remember reading a diary on one person that broke it with the 1131. I picked this seed for the color since I grow to carve and it was pretty.
