Hi, I found this website while searching for an answer to a question I have. I do not grow pumpkins but am desperate for some help . I have had a pumpkin on my porch for about two weeks- a raccoon has attacked it and inside the area that he clawed I can see a clear gooey substance. I am just concerned about this being saliva or if its something that pumpkins leak like sap.

I'm sure it's from the pumpkin. It should dry out and become flaky.

Definitely the pumpkin but if worried about raccoon diseases or pumpkin health or both, disinfect the area with a mild (10%) bleach solution or hydrogen peroxide.
