ThoughtZ on this....just wondering if it would be SMART to put the 1385 Jutras back into the 1725/ SIBS as a reenforcer in geneticZ. Is this something they do when trying to hybridiZe a genetic line>?

isn't the 1725 already way past the 1385? The 1725 had 5 of the top 50 pumpkins this year and its ofspring, the 1789 est had another 4. Of course, there are probably very few 1385's left.

I am looking at this from a geneticZ standpoint, reenforcment of the 1385 genes... just a thought....

1314 Sperry 2010? Then again can't have too much inbreeding, look at 1507 Jutras, it had lots of sterile plant issues...and was all 1068 which was the best seed for a while. Probably put some 1495 stelts into the line...1725 x 1770...

I have a 1395 Wallace seed and it is a 1385 jutras x sib just wondering why this seed never got planted? Looks like I may put it in some dirt in the spring.

i suppose each grower has there own take on this but my thought is the 1725 already isolated the best of the 1385 and to cross it back in likely would weakened the cross unless by chance another somehow better seed from 1385 is used. i think selfing the 1725 to continue this incredible line might be more desirable option. but we may have to see the results of the 1775 starr to have a good picture of what selfing once again a monster has as an effect on seeds.

ThankZ Pumpkin JAM, makeZ sense. A 1775 X 1725 seemZ to make sense...a cross I want to consider.

That 1775 had a perfect shape also Wiz, the exact shape you want in your genetics when trying to go for a record setting pumpkin. Amazing how there is no flaws in the 1775 of sunken in areas of any parts of Thads pumpkin ,to where you would think gravity would have to start playing its roll. It really makes you wonder how big these pumpkins really can get before gravity just says ,enough is enough.
