Hello, I am interested in growing a giant pumpkin. I live in Oklahoma and I am planning on moving back to hawaii in December. This will be my first attempt but I would like to know if anyone has advice and seeds they would send me to start my project. I have farm land in Waialua Hawaii and I am open to Giant pumpkin, Giant Watermelon, Giant Corn, or anything that is capabale of a unique size. Hawaii has no fruits or vegi.'s of this size. Im sure that it will become one of the first farms of this kind on the islands. If anyone has any donations to try this out please send it to Leilei 200 hughes Drive #26, Poteau, Ok 74953. Who knows? your seeds might give you a chance to visit Hawaii to share your passion for farming and start a new trend in the Tropical state!

Great Pennsylvania Spirit! Please send seeds to my address:

Leilei 200 Hughes Drive #26, Poteau, Ok 74953
along with care instructions for your seeds and any other advice you might have to maximize full growth potential.

I will be leaving Oklahoma on December 4th 2012 and headed back to Hawaii where I was born and raised.(so please get it to me before then)

In return I will send you weekly updates on your "babys" in paradise (Your Crops) and I will also be sending you Pictures too. They will be grown in Waialua, Hawaii.

Airfare to Honolulu Hawaii will be paid by me, to the person who has sent me the seeds of the biggest crop on my farm. =) Good Luck

I'm pretty sure that Aaron Burkert is still the current Hawaii State Champ. I'll let him know to check out your post here. He's a great grower & has set the bar pretty high for growing Atlantic Giants in a tropical environment!

I just double checked. Aaron's Hawaii State Record was 1023 lbs. and he grew it in 2009. Very respectable pumpkin!

That's one of the most beautiful places on earth. On Oahu and away from the city with all that amazing north shore coastline... Hmmm...

Aaron is (was) on Maui and kept a diary in 2009. If you go to the "Grower Diaries" section, select year 2009, and look for the screen name "Pumpkindork", you will find it.

Sure, I can send some seeds, and as you haven´t pointed out any preferences I´ll just send you a selection of a couple of my seeds. How many plants are you planning to grow? You´ll have noticed that each AG plant requires a good amount of squarefootage of good patch soil...shouldn´t be too bad on a farm, and also important is the time you´ll have available for looking after your pumpkin plants. Each plant will require half an hour of your precious time every day (my impression). How much time can you spend on the pumpkin patch every day? Yes, 24 hours, that´s the correct answer (my impression), but you also need to sleep. A day has 24 hours, and then there´s the night!? Great attitude! Well, I better stop kidding right here right now, AGs are amazing and the hobby is madness, and I´m sure you can be mad enough to grow a new Hawaii record. Cheers, Jörg

Thanks pumpking! Me and my father will be doing this for the first time together. He is retired and I am looking forward to spending time with him everyday on the farm. Gardening is his hobby and I'm sure we will spend more than 30 min. A day in the patch. I can't wait to get started andit will be a unforgettable experience!
