just having fun scrolling the gpc list while slow at work and saw a nice potential cross in 2013 using 2012 pumpkins.....theortically speaking if viable seeds.
1775 x 1770.5 either way looks nice. with earlier genetics discussion on consistancy of selfed pumpkins, then these 2 selfed babies might be a dynamite combo. a selfed 1725 with a monster shell x the selfed 1495 that went rock heavy. over 40 inch ott difference and only 5 pounds weigt difference. besides that these 2 have risen to the top in all around performance in 2012 as well. top end selfed genetics with the monster shell x monster heavy combo is a cross hopefully more than one person will make this year.
anyone else who sees nice 2012 pumpkins that might make a nice cross, than throw them out there. nice to discuss breeding strategies and potential crosses from many different perspectives to help others in the whole synergistic approach that comes with group brainstorming

Shazzy, that is the cross I would really like to make as well, for the reasons you state. If I can get my greenhouse space over the winter I would love to make it and have seeds ready by spring. I also like the 1578 from Finland x 1770 too. I would think the 1578 is a real monster for the finnish climate. It's also has pure 1725 selfed genetics and a real nice shape with shallow smooth ribs. The shape of the 1578 with the color and thickness of the 1770 would make a beautiful pumpkin.

1655 x 1770 and reverse, because both fruit went pretty heavy and, unlike the 1756, the 1655 is a selfed Freak which went heavy.

These are the two cross I would like to see 2009 Wallace X 1843 Geddes or 1775 Starr X 1770 Lieber I would grow the both of them. This year we grew the 101 Shymanski which was a 2012 seed. The cross was 1807 Stelts X 1647 Wallace and it grow or 1250 Martin.

1770 Lieber X 1579 Wallace has power written all over it. Both had great shapes, both went really heavy and both have a great genetic line. I also like 1684 X 1579 Wallace for the same reasons.

i think im eather going to do 1775 times self or 1775 times 1661. i think i'll just do 1775 times self to keep the genetic line pure.
