There have been many great pumpkins grown and I am always interested to see which seed the grower has the most confidence in.
This is your chance to tell other growers about your seeds. Let everyone know which seed of yours you like, the cross, and why. It can be proven or unproven the key part is that you have confidence in it.
As we know the growers themselves know their plants the best so who better to hear about the best in the patch from the grower themselves.

Our 972 Finders 2012 7% heavy (12% old chart). Gained up to day 80 wich we never seen in hot sc before. Plant was 450 small and shaded. One of our best fruits and if it does well in SC, it will do great anywhere else. Flawless interior, good color. The cross is 1605 sweet x self. So existing traits are kept and strengthend. Get em while there still hot ;)

877dmg uow j werner (1421 stelts x 1325 Hopkins) it split day 40 my first year growing. 3 known grown this year. 1- I gave a plant to my neighbor he planted it in his corn field minimal care no soil test end of july pollination and first year grower grew 741lbs 14% heavy. it was off vine for over a month sitting in his front yard too before being weighed. Was one of two in top 10 to go heavy at local weigh off. Other one was 10% heavy and was also grown off of the 877 and was off vine for a month. the third one I grew and was 12% heavy and the fastest growing pumpkin in my patch in front of 1421stelts, 1634 werner x2, 1560 urena ect. I think this seed has big heavy potential if it were in the right garden. I am growing this seed again next year

First year weighing and I ended up with a 1146 Hoelke. I planted a 1641 Montgomery and pollinated from a 1657 Bryson. I choose both seeds as I liked the parents of each seed.
So I guess that makes it the grandparents of my seed, which is the 1566 Rodonis, 1185 Kline, 1725 Harp and 1468 Stevens. They all caught my eye this time last year. I will grow my seed next year along with two other different seeds in a larger garden which is expanding next week. We'll see if it has any potential. In a world with so many available seeds, I'm not sure my cross has value, but if anyone wants seed from my 1146, I have some dried and ready to go. Email@ ryanhoelke@gmail.com

1000 martin11 (1495 Stelts X 1789 Wallace). Pumpkin rotted from a split @day 40 and would have made a run at 1800 pounds. Great shaped pumpkin and great color. Nice thick walls when I cut her open. It was a really, really, really healthy plant and I really like the cross. Just look at what the 1789 and 1495 did this year...
More info on it in my diary. Seeds are dry and ready to mail out if anyone wants to grow it in 2013.

934 Schieder 2011 (1421 Stelts x 991 Urena) 14 % heavy. The pollinator was 918 lbs heavy and 32% over the chart. This year the 934 grew: 934 Schieder 12 dmg -->was just 48 days old, grew over 50 lbs a day, pinhole so the game was over too fast 1293 Wild 12 --> one of the biggest pumpkins in germany this year 1694 Meier 12 --> European Record, 7 % heavy, lost 3 ft of the MV in July so more is possible

1037 Rusenstrom (924 Veitch x 1657 Bryson) I orginally started the 924 as a back up. I gave the plant very little care (planted in a barn yard, no fert, little water) till about the third week of July. Plant looked really good so I started to weed and cover all vines at that time.
What I really liked is that it grew 500lbs after Sept 1 and went 5% heavy.

May I guess one for Matt? (no matter if you say YES or NO, I will). How about his 1216.5? (It´s an awesome cross, and according to the current GPC list, Matt would have to plant a couple of them to polish the statistics of this seed.)

Hi Guys sorry for the delay, fishing and clone pumpkin growing along with auction organization has kept me away from checking my own post. Thanks to all that have replied!
Here are my top-DeBacco picks…
2012 = bust year for me as my patch was lost to Zucchini Yellow Mosaic Virus (ZYMV), so I have to look back at my other years…
1216.5 DeBacco ’11 (F: 1325 Hopkins x M: 1725 Harp) This was a nice cross with the 1325 Hopkins offering a different set of genetics and the 1725 Harp growing a 1,465.5 pound pumpkin that was dmg due to mouse damage but still made it to an official weigh-off. Both pumpkins were free of flaws and have cross section pictures in my 2011 diary.
1064.5 DeBacco ’10 (F: 1385 Jutras x M: 1421.5 Stelts) I have referred to this seed in previous “plugs” but for those that plant it is still a consistent producer. The plant habit on all the plants that I have seen as been very nice and the pumpkins have been sag line free. (I had it in the patch in 2012.)
799* DeBacco ’09 (F: 663* Andrews ‘05 x M: 800* DeBacco ‘08) Here is a squash that I am looking more and more at. Now the offspring may not always be true green squash, but it is a cross I am looking more at. The 663* Anders is an easy to pollinate squash and the 800* DeBacco is an 848* Mackenzie x 834* Gadberry cross to add vigor and color. I grew it and got a 963 pound pumpkin that looked very nice internally and went almost 10% heavy based on the current chart at the time.
I may even have a 4th to add but time will tell.
Here are some quick links:
1216.5 DeBacco ‘11 http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=172816
1064.5 DeBacco ‘10 http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=150339
799* DeBacco ‘09 http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=123949
963 DeBacco ’10 (F: 799* DeBacco ‘09 x M: 725.6* DeBacco ‘09) 9.8% heavy http://

1450 Steil 2012 (1303 Sweet x 1647 Wallce) The 1303 was a dream to grow and never made huge gains but plugged away until the end in extremely tough growing conditions. The pollinator went down at day 30 but was already 10% heavy in a year when everything in the patch went light.
313 Steil 2012 (1647 Wallace x 1303 Sweet) Pollinator grew the 1450 Steil 2012. I have a good feeling about this seed. The 1647 Plant lost the main due to hail so I grew several pumpkins on it for genetic reasons.
1169 Steil 2012 (1789 Wallace x 1647 Wallace) This one went light but made 400 OTT on a tiny plant that had extreme wind damage. I believe this one has the makings to produce something special but there just wasn't the plant to push it. The cross is intersting, pollinator was the same as the 1450.
1331.5 Steil 2012 UOW (991 Urena x 1605 Sweet) This one was on pace to be something special but went down with a tiny rib split. Was the leader of the patch by a long shot until the rib split in August.
1162.5 Steil 2012 DMG (1630 Revier x 1647 Wallace) Lots of potential here. This one split on the trailer waiting to be weighed after a long trip to Iowa.
Do to the extreme heat/drought we had this year and grower error everything in the patch, and the area for that matter, went light to chart.

For you gamblers here is one. 891 Cantrell (1445.5 Werner X 1177* Haist). Grown in the heat of the south where they say "you can't grow a big'un". 23% heavy on the new chart and only 53 days old. Pollinated by 1486* Jarvis. 50% chance of producing a greenie.

Boy I screwed that up. 891 Cantrell (743 Cantrell x 1486* Jarvis). 743 was(1445.5 Werner x 1177* Haist). Just about everything went & produces heavy.
Thanks Mark. I should re-read before I hit enter.
