I got some seeds sent to me from bill foss( seeds, stamps& bubblelope for free).i insisted i pay he insisted i didnt.they were marked 1058.so would that make them 1058 foss for the seed title?& when i grow them the seeds out of that pumpkin will become my name plus weight.cause im just planning on doing my own seeds from here on out

yes if he grew the seed it would be 1058 foss
what ever you grow from it would be
2013 0000 yardman 1058 foss x 0000 (the weight of the pollinator seed)

Thanx pap & when selfed does that mean the male pollinator came from same plant that im growing my pumpkin off of.& if i grow several of the 1058 foss& pollinate amongst themselves that wud be considered selfed also since seeds came out of same pumpkin.1058 foss×1058 foss. Jordan brooks by the way & no offense to anybody bout not asking for seeds but the man was nice enuff to go threw the trouble for free.i feel its respectul to grow his seeds& see what i can do

1058 Foss was grown from 658 Foss (1678 Hunt x 1725 Harp). Turned very orange and was crossed with the 1544 Revier a very orange pumpkin and producer. You are correct about the self but if it is crossed with another 1058 it is called a 2013 xxxx yardman (1058 foss x sib)

yard selfed means just that self pollinated with males from the same plant. if you plant a bunch of 1058 foss seeds and mix and match male pollon from one 1058 plant to another" that would be a 1058 sib if you dont hand pollinate and allow the bees to do natures work? the pumpkins would be calledf "open pollinated" just like most field pumpkins. pap

I thought the same thing about only growing my own, and then once you see the beauts people grow, you wanna grow them or at least cross one into your line. You can self them aka hillbilly them year after year, but what fun is that with little variation?
