Darren If you get a dill ring and than yes you will have a bigger proubem than one with no ribs and smooth. If no dill ring than it doesn't make a defrance.

yep darren,

deep ribbed look great and i like wide deep ribs but, if you run into serious deep sag lines (dill rings) intersecting at those deep wide ribs?, it could spell the end.especially on a rapid grower.so for that reason we try and pick seeds from pumpkins with no history of defects. sometimes though? the chase is worth the gamble.

having said that ? i still like a wide ribbed rugged looking pumpkin.

if it was a beauty contest? ron and i would still be looking for our first win.

I prefer shallow ribs myself.
