Hello everyone, I love planting new un-proven seeds, and I am just having the hardest time deciding what to go with this season. I just wanted to hear what everyone elses opinion was on un-provens from the 2012 seed stock????

I have high hopes for the 1770 Lieber. 1495 genetics are great. Selfed seeds never had a great track record until the 1725 Harp grew the 2009. Time will tell!

Carl's 1811- 2012 will probably see more action than his 1807;) and 1727 Ansems 2012- 1622 Young x 1382 Bryson is looking good also.

I rate unproven seeds by fruit weight + pollionator fruit weight / 2.
so I rate 1623 Wallace, 1775 Star, 1770 Lieber, and 1756 Lancaster as some of the best ever unproven seeds. I also like heavy so 1684 Delaney at 18% heavy with an 11% heavy pollinator is also a great possibility.

The 1381 Delaney could turn out to be better than the 1684 Delaney. It also contains half of the 1495 Stelts genetics which is in the 1684, but the other half of the 1391 comes from a 1404 Bryson plant which did very well, whereas the other half of the 1684 seed genetics comes from a 1818 Bryson which did make some troubles. Just my opinion, but it made me pick the 1381 over the 1684. Only time will tell which of the two turns out to be the better seed.

See I was thinking about the same thing with the 1124 Graham, the reverse cross of his 1811. The pollinating plant grew the 1811. It's a great theory that may have merit, or not. Results, not time, will reveal the truth. If Quinn didn't give the 1161 Rodonis a shot, based on the pollinator's performance, who else would have tried it.

@titanic: look here, I came across this when I searched Chris´ diary for info about his 2012 crosses:
http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=189034 http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=191036
If the slow-grow problem with the 1818 was due to some plant damage (borers or other insects), then it should be fine, but if there are any genetic reasons, then it could have happened that this particular genetic info went into the 1684 seed. I never wanted to say that the 1684 could be a seed that shouldn´t be given a go, I think it is also a very good seed from the 2012 crosses available, I just wanted to point out that I consider the 1381 a seed which might have even more potential than the 1684. Seems funny that I´m also playing with the following thought, but I like that idea: The 1381 has a pollinator which produced a 1684...that´s incredibly similar to a 1385 which had a pollinator that produced a 1689, isn´t it?

This was the first year Ive seen cuke beetles in my garden and I didn't have a few, I had thousands. The weird thing is that they seemed to have started in the west end of my garden and worked their way east. Despite my best efforts the 2 most western plants (my 1065 and the 1818) suffered major damage. My 1065 almost immediately stopped growing. The 1818 was my biggest day 10 and 20 ever and abruptly slowed to a halt. New growth leaves on both plants were almost certainly mosaic. I took the 1818 to an early weighoff and it weighed 843 (10% heavy). Btw, I am growing both the 1684 and 1381.
Cheers.

I also want to add the 840 Young since I am growing it now (got one Saturday). It's the 777 Young x 1059 Vincent Mcgill. We all saw what the 777 Young did, so that crossed back into the 1059 should go orange.
