Hi Curt, sounds good what you are planning to do, but please forgive me if this is a silly question (or at least three questions which came up when I read your post): 1) Who is the newbie? 2) What was the question? 3) Why can´t I just find the question mark?
I guess you are after opinions from others if they would also fancy crosses like that, if they would want to grow seeds out of such a cross of damn-damaged. My answer is YES! Last year I grew the 1723 Marshall seed (which also belongs to the damn-damaged ones, because it is DMG x self, so speaking), and it grew my best pumpkin 2012, went some % heavy, had a nice color and hadn´t made any troubles. If your two plants grow nicely and grow nice pumpkins, then the cross out of them shouldn´t be too bad, I suppose.
