I'm wondering what 2013 crosses look to have good potential for big and orange?

I'll throw this out there... My 500.5 Warren 2013, was grown on the 608.9 Ollila (1059 Vincent/McGill X SELF) and pollinated with the 1432 Northrup, which plant also threw bring shiny orange pumpkins. I have added a picture of the 500 on tools.pumpkinfanatic.com.

The 608.9 Ollila plant grew like a dream. Excellent plant, so why only 500? I had a terrible hail storm in mid-June which severely damaged my main. I think the fruit was being fed as if it were drawing from a kinked straw. It measured 585 and weighed 500,... anyway I think there is a lot more potential there. Will harvest seeds sometime this week.

Any 1610 Liebers crossed by a 2009 Wallace should be good.

There's so many good crosses now. I was surprised with this perfect colour and shape from the 1778 Daletas (that always went heavy this year). It's pollinated with the 2009 Wallace.

It was nearly perfect in a colour and shape.

My 636 Minor(562 Minor x 1662 Stelts) and HD winner has great potential(see my diary for details/pics). I burnt the leaves during hardening off and the poor plant spent 2 weeks recovering before resuming growth in a shady spot.

562 Minor(uow) is 1250 Kline x 1059 Vincent-McGill. Vigorous plant growth and consistent orange in at least 4 plants grown this year.

I forgot to mention my 562 Minor(ouw) x sib taped 800 lbs before going down due to a thin spot(1/8 inch thick) on right bottom on September 17.

Plenty of 562 and 636 seeds available.

1048 Engel (777 Young x Self) throws a consistent HDA pumpkin. Just saying :)

I suppose the 1295.5 bailey has managed to slip under the radar? The cross is 811 Gerhardt x 1409 miller. The 1409 pollinator went over 1200 lbs too. A huge orange pumpkin with power on both sides. Don't say I never told ya nothin.

How about the 1049 Swain '13 which after 27 years of growing AG's is by far the prettiest I have ever grown.

Dark orange, shiny and tall - it is from the 979 McMillan (1634 Werner X 300 McMillan which was the 1610 Lieber crossed with 1725 Harp). I crossed the 979 with the 1257 Northrup (1421 Stelts X 772 Poirier)

I still can not get any pictures to post on my swaintech diary. If you have facebook - look at Ford Farm Market and there is a picture of my wife with the 1049 on October 24th. There is a picture of the 1257 on the October 13th post.

Tom, prettier than the 411 swain? Stupid Facebook, I can't ever find anything with search.

Jim - I know the 811 Gerhardt throws real beauties with my 411 being a perfect example.

Too bad it got a late start here and never reached it's true potential of color or shine.

I also love the how smooth it is which allowed my wife to carve it into the "Golden Compass" theme for display in front of our house. Thousands saw it and it was featured on 2 Rochester NY television stations. Thanks, Jim.
