Does anyone plan on doing this cross this year? Or is too much inbreeding a bad thing?

Could be a nice cross. The 1725h. has done well selfed and sibbed so I wouldnt worry about inbreeding.

Jordan,
The only thing that I worry about is the fact that neather are proven, though they will most likely be good seeds. until you start seeing mutated double or triple pumpkins on the main, I would not worry about inbreeding at all.

And I doubt that that would even happen in plants. Plants self pollinate all of the time via bugs nature.

I really like this cross because you are essentially crossing big and heavy with big and heavy, that is the way I look at it. Inbreeding is not an issue with these giants. Despite both seeds being unproven yet, I have a feeling you will be very happy with the cross and the results you get from both plants. The genetics behind these two seeds are proven and you will see some true giants grown on both in 2014

Just throwing this out there, the 1725 crossed into the 2009 of the 1985 was not proven, but then again, the 2009 used as the female on the 220.3 was also not proven to a weight that would give us much background on what It could have produced in the field.
