Out of curiosity, I was thinking it would be fun to see what the top 3 crosses everyone is planning for 2014. The list should be based on seeds you actually have, not ones you are dreaming of getting.

List which ones you are planning on using as the female plant and which as the pollinator.

Conveniently, I only have room for 3 plants. So, I have to make the 3 crosses work with 3 plants.

My top 3 are:
1. 1874.5 Mathison 2013 x 1734 Steil 2013
2. 1734 Steil 2013 x 1791 Holland 2013
3. 1791 Holland 2013 x 1874.5 Mathison 2013

Any (useful) comments appreciated.

What are you planning?

I think the sky is the limit here, although since the 1725 Harp, many good seed has been thrown on the back burner, and I look to see something new come our way this year.

I love reading what everyone else is planning to plant. I would love to put forth my choices for 2014 but I have a problem. I belong to three great clubs and their newsletters are the best. As part of membership they send out 30-40 seed packets. One of the clubs just sent me seed and the other I am waiting on. That means that until I get the seeds from my clubs I can not make the best choices as I do not know what I will receive yet. Those clubs who are waiting to mail out your member packet keep this in mind. The seeds you send me in late March may never be considered because the choices of what to plant have been made. Sure there is time left in April to make my choices but if you have the member packets ready PLEASE, Please get them mailed out. I have time on my hands and would like to have the seeds to research genetics and progeny of the seeds you send. Love all the clubs I am a member of, I am just saying "Show me the SEEDS!"

if i'm lucky and get 1288 wallace to germ i would love to do a 1288 x either 2009 or 1623(whichever plant looks best at pollenating time)
obviously, all crosses are dependant on seeds germinating first and foremost, so good luck to everyone in the upcoming season, hope we all get to make the crosses we hope to , and then new personal bests from them.

Likely all wishful thinking, I admit i'm guilty of it too.

A year ago now, you would have thought there were going to be 100- 1770 x 1775 (and reverse) crosses. I see none that made it to scale.

I wanted to do 1770 x 1775, but both my 1770's were sterile.

How about 2009 x 2032. Actual 1 ton cross!
1495 x 2032
2009 x 1495
Sure a lot of inbreeding now and yet the fruit still come out looking very different.

You have a clone from the 1725 2009? If so, I would get a self off of it If at all possible.
