Hi All! I am a minnesotan looking for a stable line of pumpkin seeds that can reliably produce a 300-500 lb pumpkin. Do you have any suggestion as to what this variety is or where I can find an answer? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

That is a loaded question. Define reliably. Are we talking field grown? commercial? Hobby growing in the flowerbed? Competitive growing?
The AG (Atlantic Giant) Cucurbita maxima has produced 3 pumpkins over 1 ton and hundreds over 1500 lbs. But not by just tossing a seed in the ground and see what happens. Competitive growing techniques, lots of hours, top of the line genetics, perfect soil, perfect weather, and a lot of luck is what is takes to coax the top weights out of them, but if you have good soil and growing techniques you can get 300-500 out of them fairly easily. Go to seed exchange board and look for offers for seeds.

As it relates to the type of growing I plan to do, I hope to produce 10-15 pumpkins of this size in a non-competitive manner. I have enough space to grow 10 or so vines, allowing 300 sq ft per vine. I am simply looking for a seed that can accomplish this goal. thanks for the help!

bgerten, just about any seed from a grower on this site will produce the results you desire. I have done low maintenance pumpkins before. Just make sure you adjust your pumpkins so that the vines have slack in them otherwise your pumpkins will pull off at about 200-300 pounds.
