Though my Snowball germinated within a few days, it's been about 10 days and the first true leaf is still very small. In comparison to my other plants I'd estimate half the growth rate. So the big question is whether the slower growth is an indicator of a small future pumpkin? I ask because it seems a shame to destroy the plant but I have other plants with less stellar genetics that are growing very well.

First growth is slow till about 3ft and vining. I believe the root growth is what its doing for fist month the look out. Should be plant for sure If you don't want it I'll pay shipping.

I grew the 220 last year, same problem. I managed to UV burn the first true leaf on it so my main vine was completely jacked up. The plant continued to grow slow the entire season but it kept growing until November. Was about mid August before I had a female to take (way too hot here last year)but that damn thing was still growing in late October. I selfed it and I'm growing the self this year, it too is a slow grower. I think if you give it a chance, you'll be surprised.

Thanks for your comments. I have two more days of cold nights and then it will hit my patch.

I almost pulled my 220 last year three times. Only got a pollination set on July 9th. Plant was a constant battle at the beginning. It ended up 1734, I would stick with it. That said, I started two this year, one did not germinate the other did not grow at all after germination.

It seems like the 220 was a slow grower to start with. If the 220 is slow, I wouldn't pull it, because it has a history of being slow, but produced some large pumpkins.

Snowball remains in my artificial lighting room, looking good but growing slow compared to my other plants. I think I will pant tomorrow, as risk of frost will be gone and we should be getting much warmer nights. My best wish is to have some male pollen when my other plants produce females.
