As we all get our plants in the ground and select our final line-up I was curious to hear what crosses people plan on making, or what crosses growers would like to see. I realize that sometimes you may not have the flowers in sequence the day of, but ideally what crosses would you like to see?
For me the cross I plan on doing (and hoping others do also) is a 220.3 DeBacco “Snowball” x 1676.5 Daletas and reverse. Both of these seeds had great first years out and they differ genetically so I encourage anyone that can make this cross to put it on their list.

If it works out I may cross 454 LaRiviere ( 220.3 DeBacco X 2009 Wallace) with old but good 566 Van Hook (1407 Wolf x 1450 Wallace ).

Good question Matt, Well my line up is. 1387 Hopkins (2009 x self} 1320.5 Aasman (1104 x self) 454 LaRiviere (220 x2009) 1623.5 Wallace (1278 x 1725) 280 Aasman ( 1756 Lancaster x 1104 Wallace) EST That said I`d like to cross 1387x1320 and reverse..Its the closest I can get to recreating the 2009 seed. As for the rest any available flower at the time...

1730 Werner x 854 Frei (and/or the reverse)

Everything I'm growing has rons 2009 in it. 1734 steil,282sch(2009 clone x self),1305 werner ,1874 matheson and 1526 menting. I agree in the need to outcross back into the 2009. My choices bring the 1409 miller, 1495 stelts and 1789 wallace into the mix.

With my limited space, I will strive to make the crosses: 2009 x self, and my 844 (1775 Starr x self) x 2009. I really liked my 844 from last year it was on target to be of a nice size before it split, and it was only grown in 300 square feet, so I think that the 2009 being crossed into it will fortify it's genes, at least to give it some genetic variation and to make it less likely to split, though there will not be as much genetic variation as your suggested cross, (220.3 x 1676)

For orange, I 'd like to see someone cross a 400 or 1107 Zunino with a 840 or 777 Young. Or a Zunino with a 811 Gerhardt.

For heavy, the 1744.5 fulk x 811 Gerhardt.

I am growing an 811 Gerhardt and I am going to try to cross a 1495 Stelts into it. Going to try to create a seed that is orange and heavy. Ron Barker is growing a 1495 and he said I could get some pollen when the time comes. He lives an hour and a half away so we will see if the timing works out.
I will also be crossing 2009 Wallace with 1655 Ford and the reverse.

All depends on prospective of advancing pumpkin genetics. Bright orange genetics are important to more than a handful of growers. We have a big enough hobby for us orange growers to be in as well as the growers for pure size.
