I am starting seedling and two of eight of the first true leaves are cupped like edges of the leaves are too small for the rest of the leaf. Is that genetic or am I doing something wrong?

Its prob. environmental. I get a lot of that with second/third true leafs in seedlings. they seem to grow out of it by forth true leaf.

What is the temp where they growing? How close to the grow lights? What are they growing in? What are you watering them with? Are there any insects in the growing area? Are you fertilizing them? etc

Looking at the plants today, I think that maybe heat might be the issue. The leafs are closer to the light, and a couple more are starting to cup.
One more thing that I learned by doing trial seed starting.

from what you are describing I'd say the edges of the leaves got burnt, either from being too close to the light, or fertilizer in starting media. If you take a sharp pair of scissors and snip the edge at a few intervals it will stop the cupping and the leaf will grow mostly normally.

I agree with cnty, I would also turn down the heat to 78. Like cojoe said they will grow out if it.

try a different seed starter media even your most perfect brand you use for years can have a bag that's got problems ive seen this before where all seeds are stunted in one way or another-get new bag then do test again see result
