hey you

Greencastle, PA

What's your opinion? I'm not an AGGC member so I'm not familiar with this year's crosses, but I think the 473 est (845 Bobier x 898 Knauss), and 357 est.(1260.4 Weir x 845 Bobier) Davies and and 1385 Daletas (783 Daletas x 898 Knauss) will do well. The 473 is a cross of 2 great seeds, the 845 which grew the 1260.4 (1260.4 grew the 1370 Rose) and the 898 Knauss, which has grown sveral 1000+ pounders, both are seeds grow fruit that are heavy to the charts. The 357 est. is a nice crossback of two geat seeds. The 1385 is a cross of the 783, which produced (obviously) the 1385, which weighed heavy tot he charts and set a new record pollinated with the 898 which has produced several 1000+ pound fruit that weigh very heavy to the charts. The 1373 Dueck-Papez is interesting, but maybe a bit homozygous, being an 805 Pukos (1092 Burke x 723 Bobier) x 845 Bobier.

the 1385 looks good. with respect to the 1373, people have argued that inbreeding purifies genetics to some extent, such as in crossbacks. What would this mean for this cross? I mean it's mainly 935 with geerts and mombert genetics too. but over a few generations of breeding no new genetics have been introduced. does this lead to positive, negative or neutral results? i'm curious about this. the whole lloyd line came from two seeds. how could the size of offspring be influenced by the breeding of similar or dissimilar (relatively speaking of course) genetics. I've just been thinking as I write so don't slam me but I guess I'm used to it somewhat by now
