Has anyone noticed a difference between selfing male pollen from that vine and pollen from the same seed off a second plant?

to clarify you're asking about selfing vs sib-pollination?

Selfing cuts the possible gene pool in half over sibing in the first crossing. Just hope you get the right half!

Not 1 of the 50%?

All I know is that I tried a selfing experiment for three consecutive growing seasons. I planted a seed from a pumpkin that were selfed and the following season a seed from that pumpkin...(with the hope of narrowing the gene line in the right direction)! It failed the third season when all the blossoms were two or three lobe and all attempts with them aborted. My lesson was learned on that!

Two and Three Lobed Ag's? I have never seen that before! Selfed several strains for years and if anything the lobe count goes to like 5 over 4's with a lot of sixes.

i've been down to 3 lobes before, numerous times, but never a 2. that would be neat! i would have to try the pollinate- by-cavity/lobe procedure for sure. i think the 1140 Stelts might have been a 3-lober, seems i read that somewhere......
