hey all, happy holidays.
a friend of mine and myself are growing these 7
seeds if they all germinate successfully.
feel free to suggest the 7 best crosses to make in
2004 including self pollination as an option.
I included some backround genetic info for those
who are not AGGC members.

1. 695 Handy '01 f. 723 Bobier m. 545 Handy

2. 1301.5 Eaton '03 f. 842 Eaton m. 1236 Eaton
842 (f. 846 Calai m. 723 Bobier)
1236 (f. 723 Bobier m. 846 Calai)

3. 741 Eaton '03 f. 1236 Eaton m. 842 Eaton

4. 756 Ford '02 f. 1020 Kuhn m. 805 Pukos
1020 (f. 712.2 Huhn m. 801.5 Stelts
805 (f. 1092 Burke m. 723 Bobier)

5. 920 Handy '03 f. 805 Pukos m. 695 Handy

6. 1057 Werner '03 f. 1076.5 Werner m. 845 Nesbitt
1076.5 (f. 845 Nesbitt m. 980 Kuhn)
845 Nes (f. 846 Calai m. 723 Bobier
980 Kuhn (f. 723 bobier m 712.2 Kuhn

7. 1132 Eaton'03 f. 734 Cheam m. 1236 Eaton
734 (f. 805 Pukos m. 1153 Eaton)
1153 Eaton (f.723 Bobier m 974.5 Eaton

hypothetically speaking, if all 7 are equally strong
healthy plants and male flowers are available at the right
times, here are my cross selections.

females males

1. 695 Handy x 741 Eaton
2. 1301.5 Eaton x 1057 Werner
3. 741 Eaton x 1301.5 Eaton
4. 756 Ford x 920 Handy
5. 920 Handy x 756 Ford
6. 1057 Werner x 1301.5 Eaton
7. 1132 Eaton x 920 handy

feel free to give explanations why you would
make certain crosses too.

thanks all and have a happy new year with the
best of luck in 2004 to everyone.

LOL... isn't this part sooooo fun! I just go with what feels best to me. You have your Beachy's and Welty's and such who can make an educated cross but they are good at that, im not. I think you know deep inside what you want, i say go with your gut! Wish i had better advice.

Jeff, Nice to see you have plans for the 741 Eaton.
Al passed a note to me about the 741 a while back. He likes it more than any other of his crosses. I can't cross it this way but your choice to X it with the 1301.5 which is its reverse is sound. I will most likely self it. My plan now to grow it in a flag but that could change by spring. I originally had a 734 Cheam that I wanted to x with something Eaton but I traded it away. The 1132 will also go well with the 756 Ford.
