I've seen dairy pics of the 1912 Carter offspring from Linus Van Pelt, swaintech, and VTJohn. All of these seemed to have quite nice orange color. Any other offspring of the 1912 to mention? I'm considering this seed for one of my two competition spots for next year, and would like all the feedback I can get, before making the final decision.

I will let you know how the 1912 x 1143 or reverse cross looks next fall at Stillwater. :)

Doug,
I was happy with the smooth skin, nice tall roundish shape and medium orange color of ours. This is part of a multi year orange project and we are hoping the 1000.5 Gansert will add some darker orange to it. This coming year we are going to add either a 1059 to it or a 1059 self if the 1059 doesn't germ.

Thanks for the replies. It looks like the the 1912 has good size potential. John's almost made 1300 lbs, and Shannon's was on a nice growth rate, before she went down. I'm hoping to make an orange cross that combines big and orange traits. The 1912 is in the running.

i agree with the 1912 for big and orange potential. It seems that it was a hard one to get started though. I still have 1912 seeds..when i decide to grow orange again, it will see dirt.

Doug, the 1912 was one of the fastest growing fruit I have ever grown it stopped growing around 1050 do to a soft spot when it grew off the mat. The color was a very light orange at that time.
