Since I mentioned trying to grow some old seeds last year and am planning on doing it again this year I have a ton of old seeds come my way. Since this will only be my fifth year growing I don't know much about these seeds except what I have found on this site an bp.com.I am sure there is stuff on the old AGGC site but I do not have an account. What would be your top five Mombert seeds to grow from the list below. currently leaning toward 1097, 867,860,774,633, and 590. 1097 Mombert 2001 -- ( 723 Bobier 99 x 866 Mombert 96) 936 Mombert 2001 -- ( 846 Calai 99 x 866 Mombert 96) 867 Mombert 2000 --( 801.5 Stelts 97 x 567.5 Mombert 92) 860 Mombert 2001 -- ( 940 Mombert 98 x 723 Bobier 99) 859 Mombert 1999 -- ( 866 Mombert 96 x 946 Geerts 96) 844 Mombert 2001 --( 846 Calai 99 x 866 Mombert 96) 844 Momber 1998 -- ( 567.5 Mombert 92 x 726 McDonald 95) 828 Mombert 1998 -- ( 567.5 Mombert 92x Open) 808 Mombert 1996 -- ( 567.5 Mombert 92 x 804 Zehr 94) 796 Mombert 1997 -- ( 567.5 Mombert 92 x Open) 774 Mombert -- ( 801 Stelts 97 x 567.5 Mombert 92) 765 Mombert 1997 -- ( 697 Ciliberto 94 - 567.5 Mombert 92) 759 Mombert 1997 -- ( 567.5 Mombert 92 x 887 Orr 95) 749 Mombert 1999 -- ( 946.5 Geerts 96 x 866 Mombert 96) 681 Mombert 1997 -- ( 697 Ciliberto 94 x 567.5 Mombert 92) 633 Mombert 2001 -- ( 867 Mombert 00 x 723 Bobier 99) 590 Mombert 1998 -- ( 746 Black 97 x 567.5 Mombert 92) 460 Mombert 1997 -- ( 661 Holland 91 x 697 Ciliberto 94)

I grew both the 867 and the 859. They were very orange and nicely shaped. I'm partial to those.

Joe - The late Len Stellfplug grew many Momberts. Len was very active on BP so you may be able to find some pictures. From what I know, anything with the 846 Calai would give you the type of pumpkin I know you love to grow.

If you are aiming for orange, I'd definitely go with the 867 Mombert 00. I believe it's the reverse cross of the 940 Mombert 00...I don't know if the same plants were used in the reverse cross though, but could have been. Bob Troy grew two of the most beautifully colored orange pumpkins off the 940 Mombert 00, back in the early 2000's. Based on pics I saw of them, one looked very dark reddish orange, and the other was an awesome shiny dark orange.

Tried 14 old seeds last year and got 6 to germinate. Not the best percentage but I did not file them very well and this year I am going to use a dilute Giberrillic acid solution when I soak them. Last year I got the 1290 Piorier07, 364 Webster 04, 746 Snyder 06, 1188 Krug 07, 873.5 DeBacco 08 and the 923 Pukos 10. All of the Momberts are older than any of those seeds so it will be a challenge.

The 867 Mombert and 774 Mombert were grown on the same plant, read that in some old posts. Those would be my choices for color.
