hey you

Greencastle, PA

here's my idea...
I'm going to grow a 699.2 Ruff (755 Cravenx816 Rose) and cross it with a selfed 755 one year (and self the selfed 755), the next year i will cross it with a strong 567.5 line (and self the strong 567 line) the cross that back with the selfed selfed 755, then that with the selfed 567 line, etc. etc. alternating each season. I also then plan to cross the 755 and 567 lines. Another option other than the selfed 755 is the 728 Holland. Any thoughts?

Sounds great Tom, I just hope they all germinate, survive the elements, don't abort, or get vandalized (Pesky Vandals), and finaly get over 200# for ya!

Not to put a fly in your ointment Tom, but, FYI, I believe the true cross of the 755 is really 827 x self not the 827 x 722 as most think(and AGGC states). A better seed because of it...if you ask me. BF

Why is the cross 827 x self or
why do I think it is better if it is a selfed 827?
Which, "why is that" are you asking about? BF

Gads...it wasn't the rain, the aborts, or the germination problems....it was George Bush's fault ! LOL
Tom's gonna bust out this year...you watch.....

I dont care what any of the others think, I like your plan. If you can get it to work, put me first inline for seeds.

bigger pumpkins, Ernie.

Whether it's a selfed 827 or 827 x 722 it's a pretty pure cross, as the 722 is the reverse of the 827.

From speaking to many of the growers who were growing back then including Joel Holland who looked it up in some literature he had from back then, it is an 827 x self. I found this out last year after researching this seed. BF

Well I pulled out some of my old info I got from Norm himself. Unfortunately it didn't state anything about the 755's pollinator, but it did state that his 836 was actually sib-pollinated not self-pollinated as stated on the aggc. I guess this doesn't help you guys...
