In regards to the 659, the scales they were weighed on were in doubt of thier accuracy.

This is what I have researched and found to be the top 25 producers of heavy OTC progeny, up to 2002. I set a requirement of at least 6 progeny as I felt that number was the minimum amount of offspring to demonstrate consistency.
I spent *alot* of time looking into this and believe it to be quite accurate as long as the 6 progeny rule is applied.

Steve, I think you could add in the 1260 Weir. Although it was only 12% OTC check out its progeny. They are all over on the female progeny side and the male side is not that bad either. Four on the female side are an incredible 19% or more heavy. In fact two of the pumpkins on your list the 659 & 709 are its babies. The 1260 is a heavy son of a gun.

BTW...these are not pumpkins that produced the largest weights, it's the pumpkins that consistently throw heavy OTC progeny when comparing actual weight to OTT measurements.

Jim,
Yes indeed those are heavy OTC fruit, but I believe Steve is looking for the pumpkins that produce heavy OTC "progeny". My list is accurate and thoroughly researched.

I believe the little known 706 Knauss was 37% heavy as well.

....and the 951 Castellucci was 20.34% over. I crossed the 709.5 and 951 in 2003 and the pumpkin was 19% heavy. Will be growing it this year and crossing it back to the 1260 Weir.

859 Mombert = 866 Mombert x 946.5 Geerts
I had no problems whatsoever with this plant, big and aggressive...If there were not so many great seed out there, I'd grow it agin in a heartbeat...
