935 Lloyd '97 x 865 Mettler '98...the stuff pumpkin dreams are made of.

Needs no introduction but for the deprived, this cross has produced something like 35+ 1000 pounders & boat-loads of over 500 lb fruit.

Even the first year planted 714 & 838 Bobier '02's have done well. Both of these will likely get a real workout this year & will probably do well.

The 528 Kuhn '03 will probably enjoy a good test drive '04 too.

So far, this cross hasn't failed. (1131 is exempt - no seeds)

But how many low weight duplicate genetic crosses have been produced? Have any of these been grown yet?

Why shouldn't we apply the "got'em grow'em" philosophy? Just because no one has?

Steve, last year I grew a 527 pounder off a 716 Miller which is 935 Lloyd sibbed. I pollinated it with the 865 Mettler. That was as close as I could get to duplicating that super cross. I will plant the 527 in my patch this year, I hope it does well.

So perhaps there are very many of the dupes? I hope your 527 does well.

Really don't know, had three Mettler, two I got direct from
Lincon & traded with well respected grower for the third. Grew two of them, both plants seemed alike in growing, fruit had same long stems, the one I grew threw green & the (plant)my friend grew threw orange. I started both plants.
If you follow the lines back, there is green on both sides way back. The only way I will know for sure is growing out the offspring. I have grown the 723 & 845 so know characteristic of the offspring.
