From what I've read on this forum, if I wanted a seed that would produce heavy, orange pumpkins consistently, I would do the following crosses "hypothetically" this year.

(A)946.5 Geerts 1996
X
(B)810 Dill 1999

The resulting pumpkin would be the (C)504 "Jones" 2004

The following year (2005) I would make 2 selfed pumpkins from that seed.

(C)504 "Jones" 2004 x Self = (D)621 "Jones" 2005

(C)504 "Jones" 2004 X Self = (E)770 "Jones" 2005

The following year (2006) I would cross those 2 seeds.

(D)621 Jones 2005 X (E)770 Jones 2005 =(F) 808 "Jones" 2006

Would the resulting seed, the 808 Jones 2006 be condidered a "line bred" pumpkin?.

I believe what you stated is correct from what I have heard. I tried asking a similar question too, but no one answered it:) Jim

That was the way the beloved 935 was made. I would have to like the results of the first cross to continue the process though. I guess the selfing and sibbing helps to mix the genes together for more predictable results.
