You are little late get this seed unless you buy one at auction because all the free seeds whittier distributed were sent out last fall and not everone who asked for them got one. So basicly you are out of luck due to fact unless have good seeds to trade most people will not part with a 1458 even then.
So you will have find another seed to grow sorry to rain on your parade. And good luck on you first year growing.

Welcome & worry not. Very rarely does a world record weight fruit produce progeny of an equal caliber. Instead folks want the seed that *grew* the 1458. But you won't get one of those very easily now either.

You can still get some very good seeds from the generous growers here. Try posting a seed request on the appropriate board as a new grower & folks will respond in enough time for you to have a good first year.

Start by sending your physical mailing address here & we'll send some along.

How is your soil?

Steve

Thanks for you responce Steve. I have a clay loam soil with decent drainage. We added some black muck mixed with mushroom farm compost and sand last fall. I will likly add some composted cattle manure this spring. I have three plants started. They are in the codyledon stage, about 4" tall. I bought a pack of Atlantic giant from the Co-op. Had to start somewhere. Any suggestions would be good
Thanks
John

Wow!
I am a newbee to BigPumpkin.com. I am totally impressed with the friendliness and knowledge shown here. I realize it is kinda late to ask for caliber seeds. But, worth a shot. I have some 'OK' seeds arriving in the next couple days. But if there is a chance for some higher caliber seeds, it would be most appreciated.

Now, if I can draw myself away from here and get back out into the garden.. hard to do, am learning so much from this place. Good luck to Bruce this year.. Was sorry to here about the small hole in such an incredible pumpkin.
