I remember a similar question being asked, but I don't think it was addressed. I'm wondering if certain traits are attributed more to one side of the cross, or the other.
For instance, does the male or female side contribute more to the color of the pumpkin? Are shape, size, wall thickness influenced more by one side, or the other?
Or is it a 50/50 split?

Remember the cross only affects the seeds, not the pumpkin that you have set with the specific cross.

For instance if you choose a Calais seed like 864 or 869 as your mother plant, it will probably throw something nice orange for you. Whatever male you decide to cross, it will just contribute to certain traits you like to add. Do a research here for the 953 Langevin (most beautiful pumpkin award winner at Topsfield), the 869 Calais was female and the 885 Hampton was the pollinator just to add thickness to the fruit.
AG´s seem to be more mother related if it comes to some sort of repeated significant traits.
