If you are growing a plant from a 2003 seed I'd be interested in hearing how it is doing. Maybe we can start to get an idea of what is going to do well (or not) from unproven 2003 seed stock.

I'm growing the following 2003 seeds: 727 Pearce (1337 Houghton x 1230 Daletas, 683 Beachy (845 Lloyd x 935 Lloyd), 1000 Pugh (1020 Kuhn x 1058 Houghton), 808 Beachy (846 Calai x 801.5 Stelts), and a Beachy Cross '03 (845 Bobier x 723 Bobier).

The 727 Pearce is a nice plant, big leaves, germinated in 24 hours. Problem free so far.

All of my Beachy plants have huge leaves, giant stems, and are quite vigorus. The '03 cross is a particularly nice plant.

My 1000 Pugh's main vine isn't really round, kind of oblong. It is a big thick stem but keeps breaking off...I think because of its shape it tends to snap off when the wind blows hard. But it is an aggressive plant with a stem the size of baseball bat's handle.

My 808 Beachy has an oblong main vine, similar to the 1000 Pugh...and it also has broken off.

I have a 2003 753 Pappas plant. It is three times the size of our 1097 Beachy and 600 Gregory plants at this point.

I'm growing 1301 Eaton, which I have to agree with Kahuna2, it is a gorgeous plant. I'm also growing 1074 Beauchemin, 1133 Demers, 1255 Jutras, and 1193 Vader. The 1074 is quite vigorous. I will probably try and cross it with the 1301. The 1225 is okay, but not great. Certainly not as big as the others, and secondaries are slow to come, but it still looks healthy. The 1193 has a vigorous main vine, but it's secondaries are almost non-existent. The 1133 gave me a double vine, and I trimmed one off, and it's just starting to come out of it, so we'll have to see.

Growing the 1458. Fruit that are forming look a lot like the ones on the 582. Nice plant to work with

Not to tute my wife's horn but I must admit the 727 Pearce '03 is by far the nicest plant I've ever grown and with all the cold wet weather I'm still 16' out on the main with two to pollinate this week and a total of 17 (yes counted 15 minutes ago) females on the plant.

This is the only '03 seed stock we are growing and is now by far the best plant we have out beating our 845 Bobier and 675 Hester, even though they all get the same treatment.

Yes dear it was your baby last year but I believe I'm the one that recommended your cross.

Sorry but it kind of sucks for her as we have another bet going this year and this time I'm going to beat her and with her own seed to boot. (snicker)

am growing
339 Little, it has been a very strong and fast growing plant. The first couple of secondaries just stopped growing about 3 1/2 out. The main would grow about 12-13" in a 24 hour period before it set pumpkins. I havent measured it but the rear main is close to 15' at this time and still going. It has a pumpkin 12 days old that has a circumference around the stem to blossum end of 38 1/2". I was going to cull it due to a bad radius on the bottom side at the stem end. It is not really that bad I am just pickey.I have another female set that I am keeping an eye on.
I also have another Little plant going that is doing well. I dont know the correct # for it is a cross (901Hebbx951Casterlocci) no fruit yet it was planted late
I also have the 699 Schroeder and the 299. The 299 is doing best. The 699 main split on me and I had to train a secondary.
Any problems I have had probally are my fault, I am a first year grower of Ag's , but I am hooked. I would like to say thanks to Kyle and Mike for the seeds and for getting me started on these amazing plants.

I am growing three 2003 seeds. They are the 794 Wronski,977 Hester, and 760 Pappas. Of the three, the 794 is the most developed. Dark green leaves and a strong main vine. About 17 feet long. The 977 Hester is a nice looking plant with a curious lack of secondaries. It is growing them but further apart than normal.Could be a good thing. It is currently about 15 feet long. My 760 is the runt of the patch at 11 feet or so. All of my plants were beat up pretty badly by hail last week but are recovering.

Green Rye

Brillion Wisconsin

The 777 Kilbert '03 is growing very well up here in the frozen tundra. I stopped by to visit my folks tonight and I was very impressed with the size and color of the fruit. My father(2nd year grower) is doing an outstanding job in this less than desirable-so-called summer.

A new pic of the triple 7 in diary soon. Dean o
