I'm wondering how people did with the 582 Hester and the 1458 Whittier this year?

I had to pull my 1448 Whittier plant after sitting in cold wet soil for what seemed like weeks this spring......I do plan to try another in 2005.....right Bruce ??????
I just weighed the fruit on the 582 plant......weighed 475 lbs. , right about what it measured.

I grew the Whittier 1458 this year, had both pumpkins split at the blossom end when they were around 80 pounds. Glenn

I lost a 582 very early on. Seed never germinated strongly, kinda deformed.

I have grown the 582 in the last two seasons. On the positve side, both plants were very aggressive growing, with thick vines and tall wide leaves. Both plants had difficulty holding a pollination. Several main vine flowers were attempted before one set inn both years. On the 2004 plant, the female flowers were the largest I've ever seen. Unfortunatly, most were deformed. In 2003 the 582 grew my personal best of 760, powdery mildew, cool sea breezes kept the 2004 fruit down to an estimated 475 pounds.

My 582 grew a 1008.5, it was about 10% heavy. Pale orange, nice and high, some deep ribbing, though not too bad. All in all nice plant and fruit. Raggu
