What's the cross?
What do you think it would contribute in a cross? Color, shape, wall thickness, plant characteristics, etc.
I'm thinking of acquiring a seed that has the 712 Kuhn as the pollinator. Just wondering to expect.

The 712 Kuhn (935 Lloyd x 780 Eaton)has produced a couple of large pumpkins which have produced some nice offspring, namely the 1058 Houghton and the 1020 Houghton. Both of these second generation 712 Kuhn seeds have produced heavy offspring (the 1058 is ranked in the top 5 heavy offspring producers according to Kyle Little). I grew a 712 Kuhn this summer and didn't have the greatest result with it (550 lbs). I'm a big fan of 935 Lloyd genetics...they often lead to big, ugly heavy offspring. The 712 Kuhn has been used as an example of "hybrid vigor" both in this site an other publications. To summarize a long relpy, you could do a whole lot worse than having 712 Kuhn as a pollinator.

The 1058 may drop this year due to the 898 Knauss and 842 Eaton (among a couple others) moving up the ranks, but it's a great heavy OTC producer. I think the 1337 Houghton however is the better of the half-siblings, it just hasn't gotten as much play but that seems to be slowly changing.
You can't go wrong with either seed tho', and Russ is right, the 712 has some history of splits as a maternal producer, but it's a great pollinator....1370 Rose is a new example.
