Yes the 705 Stelts seeds are white. So white that I could not see the WHITE mold on the seed this spring. That was not very fun. Douglas

OK thanks, my seeds are a little smaller. Was the white seeds the same Size as a regular tan seed? Or are the white seeds usually a little smaller most of the time.

White seeds are thinner since they lack the "other coat". But they can be any length x width so far as I've seen.

I know this is going back, but the 1006 Greer seeds were big and white. And I think that the 898 Knauss seeds were white too, can anyone verify???

White seeds seem to express a dominate or cultivated gene, 810 Dill seeds we had were white, the fruit was always deep orange, after two seasons of out crossing the off spring seeds were all tan, fruit was pale orange. I inbred the offspring for 2 seasons and the seeds went white again with bright orange fruit. Just an observation, also our 834* after two seasons of selfing the seeds have turned a bright white with very dark green and heavy fruit...

The 933 McMullen 03(a tan seed) gave me white seeds this year. The 933 is the 500est. Mitchell selfed. The 500 Mitchell is 825 Shymanski x 865 Mettler.
The 781 Schlutt 96 (a tan seed) gave me tan seeds this year. The 781 is 490 Donkers 95 x self. The 490 Donkers is 990 Bax 94 x self.
I selfed the 781 so it will be interesting to see if it results in white seeds.

i think seed color and size is merely just the very first thing that the genetic re-combination presents to us. judging by what is said throughout this page, they can be any size, any color, and produce any thing in the end. the 1140 is a white seed, i pollinated it with an 845 which is a tan seed, (well, pollinated the PLANTS,lol) out came non-shiny white seeds from my 300 from '01. the seeds from the 300 x SELF i just put in the dehydrator last night were long, plump white seeds again. my favorite is the 1230 Daletas. man, what a nice-looking, majestic white seed. like a work of art!
i would NOT determine WHAT to plant based on seed color or size....the 629 Holland, i believe that was 935 by 801.5 or the reverse...was a very small, white shiny seed... that SEEDLING, anyway, was way bigger, way faster than any others around it when i was sprouting in '02, and i wish now i had grown it myself rather than the newbie i gave it to. eric
