The 1236Eaton, 1005Mombert, 1019Daletas,695Nessbit etc... are all 723x846 crosses. My question is do all these seeds have the same genetic make-up? Or do seeds from the different pumpkins have some individual traits. Also what is the difference between "selfed" and "sibbed"? As a new grower some of these genetic terms can be a little hard to wrap your head around!! Thanks Chad.

Selfing is when you pollinate a female flower with male(s) from the same plant. Sibbing is when you pollinate with a male from another plant from the same seed. (i.e. If you have two 723 Bobier's going and you pollinate one with the other..."sibbed") Regarding the above mentioned genetics....yes, all the same cross, but not all 723s and 846's are equal, so not all 723x846 crosses are equal. i.e. I have a 723 and pollinate it with an 846 and grow a 1000 lbs., but my 846 sputters out at 250. Meanwhile, you make the same cross in your patch and grow 1000# from your 723, but your 846 pollinator goes 1100# and 15% heavy, and dark red/orange. Guess what? I'll plant your progeny next year, not mine. All the seeds you mentioned are good, but the resultant seeds will not all perform the same. Frank

That pretty much sums it up Frank. Thanks, Chad
