I grew this plant thinking it was a back-up, but decided on planting it after I seen how aggressive it was before transplanting into the patch. In the peat pot, it was twice as big as any of my other plants, including my 1097.5 Beachy. Then after about 3 days in the patch, under my hoop house, a high wind storm came and slide right across my 1002 Gibson. When I found it, it was flat on the ground. I straightened it back up and in about 2 days it took off again. I planted on April 29th and by June 20th I had a main vine out 10 feet. Unforunately the fruit which was pollinated had a poor stem position. I thought I could correct it, but eventually developed a stem split that really affected the growth of the fruit. In general - a very agressive plant and was the reason why I choose this male to cross with my 1097.5 Beachy.

Jeff - I really like your 1170 cross.
All you Bobier genetic fans take note.
Self this or cross it back to another 1097 or 1002 for purification purposes.
This seed has got huge potential.

Mike, I also grew the 1002 Gibson this past year. The plant was extremely aggressive and it was my first pollination on July 1st. The pumpkin was light cream color and well over 700 pounds by mid August. Unfortunately just as my Razo 954.5 rotted, so did this one at the beginning of September. We had much rain here in Grove City but the worst thing was the cold weather. A couple of nights in the 30's slowed them down and they never did recover. The cold snap continued off and on over a two week period with made it difficult. I probably will plant this seed again this coming year as I feel it does have great potential. John H.
