Go to any fabric store and they will have the long cloth tapes. I bought mine at pumpkinsupply.com, but they either have or are soon to be closed.

I believe you can order them out of the "How to Grow World Class Giant Pumpkins" books.

Check under merchendise on this website too.

Joel Holland's web site offers them. I believe that you can just print the order form and mail it, along with your payment. No information on the computer this way.

are the long cloth tapes really accurate with giant pumpkins though?

Josh. The long cloth taylors/dress makers tapes that i have seen are not waterproof or easily wiped clean, they also become unreliable in accuracy when they get wet or get baked in the heat of the sun. The purposely made long tapes available from Joel Holland, Pumpkin Supply or Don Langevin are all waterproof and easy cleaned and hence more stable in accuracy.

If you know anyone who works in Civil Engineering, or who uses the very long tapes that are about 50 yards long and upwards, just ask if they have an old one they no longer use.

Regards
Mike

Josh, I got a synthetic material tape at Wal-Mart in the fabric department, they are yellow and go out to 120". I leave mine in the weather all season, have had for 2 seasons now, and numbers are as easily seen today as they were the day I bought it. Just compare the measurement to the chart and yes they are accurate.

josh: a piece of rope or string works fine also. just wrap it around then measure it with a tape measure. i did this for two years until i made the big step up to a measuring tape. lol

Josh, try a landscapers tape. They are pretty easy to find at any hardware store. They come on a reel and are soft plastic so you can wipe them clean, etc. cheap too! Good Luck, Deb
