I'm in the process of helping my widowed neighbor clean up her farm of scrap metal. Came across three Wisconsin engines VF4, AEH and a BKND, I think all three are from the 1940/50's. Does anyone still rebuild these? I've seen some on display in years past at Farm shows. The VF4 was used to run a Holland Hay Baler, it's a monster. I hate to scrap these so if anyone is looking or knows of someone that's looking for parts off of one or more of these, please give me a shout.

The VF, VG, and VH series were very popular engines in their day and were used mostly for applications such as the one you described. My experience was mostly with the VH running a John Bean sprayer pump and equipped with a hand crank to back up the electric starter. The crank has broken many hands over the years. Balers were the most widely used application.

You can still get parts easily enough through various outlets but, if they've been sitting for awhile and you are considering rebuilding them, you will want to see if they will bar over. They were also notorious for seizing due to their air-cooled design and would develop hot spots in the cylinders if one did not keep the air ducting free of debris. If she will GIVE them to you, you have nothing to lose by trying to disassemble a seized engine and evaluate it from there.
