I am starting to sell Handy Knuckles, a tripod head to lift your giants. These are designed after the ones that Steve Handy was making. You will need to supply your own 1-1/4" sch 80 steel pipe legs and "feet" to stop the legs from sinking. $250 shipped in the USA To order, email me, jeffspumpkins at gmail.com

1 end needs to be threaded, the legs will thread into the knuckle

Mine are 15’ and that was long enough to get pumpkin really high in the air, I was able to get it into a lifted tundra truck bed. I believe most guys use 15-16’. If you were only going to lift pumpkin high enough to inspect it and put a skid under it you could use less pipe.

Mine are 17', but I'm thinking of cutting them down. I really don't need them that tall. 15' would probably work for most people

Do the legs close up on each other when attached to the knuckle? If not what is the distance between the feed when closed up as far as possible?

They completely close up. All three pipes are touching each other when closed, which makes it easy to cary and move around.

I was able to carry and set mine up by myself, but it is pretty heavy and should probably be a two person operation.

Woods...yes, the legs will close up on each other. And the way I build it, the legs will actually open all the way up to allow it to lay flat on the ground. Dan...the knuckle itself weighs 17.5 lb. The weight of legs will depend on what pipe and length you use. I talked with Steve Geddes today, he uses sch 40 steel pipe and recommends an aluminum pipe inside the steel pipe for more stability for a pumpkin over 2k

Google "steel pipe near me". Big box stores won't have those lengths, but a plumbing supply store or pipe supplier would
