Do any of you add anything to the soil to kill grubs. I was in the patch today putting my t-tape in and saw some grubs, will these be bad for my pumpkin plants or should I add somthing to the soil to kill them.

grubs are feeding the most right now it preparation of their transformation to beatles. They will lay thier eggs in late June and be feeding again in the fall before they bore deep for the winter. You're plant will be one of the only fresh roots for eating, I would use some sort of long term treatment program or you will be dead before you start. It happened to me 2 years ago. i'm not an expert but know enough to know that's trouble coming.

I've used a product made by Spectricide called Triazicide to kill grubs in my patch. It claims it works in 24 hours and it really does. Not only does it kill grubs but also ants, mites and a few others.
Unfortunately, I think it may kill your worm population also. I noticed a marked decrease in the amount of worms for some time but now they're back.
You should be able to find it at Home Depot.

Merit will work great and won't effect your earth worm population. Also is a systemic so will give you protection against other critters, ie cuke beetles.
