Is there any real difference to consider here? I am looking at a price difference of $12/ 40lbs vs $7.50/ 50lbs of the ground stuff. Thanks - Jim

Jim, somewhere lately this topic was discussed, and the basic idea was (as I remember it) pelletized is actually more finely ground, and therefore breaks up faster. It is ground more finely to be able to bind it together in pellets. I guess it depends on how many bags yer gonna buy, if just a couple, I would go with the top shelf stuff. Oh, buy the way, I can get pellitized here for about half what you are gonna pay. Where are you purchasing this stuff. Peace, Wayne

Wayne I talked to the source directly and got a much better price. They're about 40 minutes from where I live.

But still, the question remains. I'm looking at building my new patch as a long-term venture. Will there be a serious difference between ground and pelletized gypsum?

No long term differences. The only main advantage with the pelleted Gypsum is, it doesn't blow all over the place. Ground gypsum is pretty dusty on a windy day.
