Pumpkinbrat mentioned in an above post that Mg. should be 1.5 times that of K. I am assuming that he means ppm or lbs/acre, and not the % saturation. On one of my soil tests I have K at 301 lbs/acre and Mg at 359, PH 6.6. What is the best way to raise the Mg. to that 1.5 level in an example 1000 sq. foot patch. Ca is 5330. thanks Kathy

Low Magnesium is a problem more commonly than high. For example, Magnesium saturation should general exceed that of potassium by a comfortable margin (say 2.5:1 or 3:1 or higher). If the ratio gets close to 1:1, or certainly if there is more exchangeable K than Mg, deficiencies of Mg are quite likely in many plants.
