What would be an ideal ppm ratio for these 3 nutrients be.Example: calcium...ppm / mag...ppm /k...ppm assuming soil ph was approx. 6.5 and I have also heard a lot about Ironite being used a lot.Can anyone elaborate.Giant Pumpkins III really stresses the use of xtra calcium in a growing program.

Thanks C Lembke,as you probably noticed by my name ,I am agiant watermelon grower(Carolina Cross)and I am trying to apply pumpkin growing principals to my contest watermelons. My soil sample results did not show base saturation ,only ppm .Maybe there is a formula to figure this with info. I have ?I noticed the cal. ppm level and looked back at the two years I had my biggest melons and the cal. level was higher these two years, than any of the other years, even then it was only about 1100ppm,so maybe higher cal. levels really help.THANKS P.S. any additional info. would be helpful.

As I posted in a different thread:

Different soil types require different percentages:

The Albrecht Formula,
with adjustments for soil texture class

Light or sandy soils (CEC <5) - % Ca 60, % Mg 18-20, % K6-8, % Na<3, % H 10-15
Medium or loamy soils (CEC 5-10)-% Ca 65-70, % Mg 10-15, % K 3-6, % Na<3, %H 10-15
Heavy or clay soils (CEC >10)- % Ca 68-75, % Mg 10-12, % K 2-5, % Na<3, % H 10-15
