I have been working for several years building my OM in 2004 it was 2%, 2005 5%, 2006 6.5% doing good right? Well I get my soil test back today and this years value comes in at 1.6%. I put normal (actually obscene amounts of stuff in last fall). Did I take my test wrong? Did the lab screw up the result? Should I run another test to find out? The rest of the values are pretty much like I expected with no big surprises.

Brian,
Probably a variation in the sampling. Contact the lab by phone & explain the situation exactly as you typed it here. Ask them to sample just the %OM again on a new submission.
Take at least 20 samples from all over. Combine them in a clean bucket very thoroughly. Then take a cup & send it off.

OR- Sample as Steve said and request that they run it in duplicate because you feel there is a good chance there was an error. They should be running duplicates every 10 samples any way.. Why not yours? Was this the same lab using the same method?? This will also help get you more consistant results.
